What Actually Happens in a Movement Assessment
A first assessment sets the direction for everything that follows. Here's what it typically covers.
A movement assessment looks at how you currently move — joint range, basic strength patterns, and any areas of restriction or discomfort — before any programming begins.
The goal isn't to pass or fail a test. It's to give your coach an honest starting point so your first few weeks of training are appropriately loaded, not guessed at.
Expect a conversation about training history and goals alongside the physical component. Context changes how a coach interprets what they see in the assessment itself.
From there, your coach builds an initial program and revisits the assessment periodically to track how things are changing over time.
